I am a writer and seasoned communications professional living in The Hudson Valley.

Do you need data-driven writing and strategy for your next project?

I am currently open for consultation.

I currently work as the Digital Marketer at Mercy For Animals, where I create and execute email campaigns in service of the organization’s mission: “a world where all beings are respected, protected, and free.”

In my previous role, I was the Communications Manager at Catskill Animal Sanctuary, where I developed strategies and systems for sharing a nonprofit’s voice and values in a crowded online space with a limited budget.

I love creating marketing email campaigns, newsletters, blog content, and ad designs. A fan of hard data, I am self-taught in analyzing audience/customer behavior from an empathy-driven perspective. As a team manager one of my core strengths is building confidence and creating positive conditions so everyone can thrive. One of my proudest professional achievements at the Sanctuary was helping to shape and articulate their stance on justice issues such as racism, reproductive autonomy, and gun violence. Rather than narrowing our audience by taking a stand, this deepened supporter loyalty and donor commitment.

In addition to my communications work in the field of animal rescue, I have applied my marketing skills to helping independent booksellers compete across digital platforms, with social media audits and educational videos.

My freelance writing/editing journey has crossed a colorful range of topics, including work for an online education company to help build a culturally responsive teaching toolkit.

I am a strong believer in local involvement.

I have been a clinic escort since 2017 and served on my local Planned Parenthood Activist Council. Since 2019, I have volunteered with Food Not Bombs, a collective that reduces food waste and addresses hunger by collecting discarded food and sharing vegan meals with the community.

I enjoy cooking vegan food, trying to meditate, and watching Star Trek with my husband and our small herd of rescues.

“Veronica is one of the most supportive and compassionate managers I have ever had the privilege to work with. They are encouraging, supportive, and inspiring, consistently modeling healthy work habits and a strong work ethic. Veronica encourages me to produce my best work while also championing a healthy work/life balance, helping me stay on track to accomplish my goals in a productive but sustainable manner. Veronica is extremely professional and driven, and any team helmed by them is undoubtedly headed for success.

Under Veronica’s leadership as Communications Manager, I was able to maintain a 12% growth average across social media platforms, averaging 9% engagement. Veronica’s long term strategy and well-rounded acumen of brand and voice helped pave the way for my success. Veronica also implemented important data tracking measures that allowed us to make informed decisions about content and campaigns.

Veronica was also adept at crafting effective and moving email campaigns, generating tens of thousands of dollars in donations through their tenure with the organization.

Veronica also successfully mentored five interns in the time we worked together, three of which were hired as full-time employees.

Their dedication, drive, and professionalism make them a delight to work with. Any time I am asked about effective leadership, Veronica’s name comes to mind. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.”

“Veronica has an incredible wealth of knowledge with regards to language, writing, editing, grammar, voice, tone, and communication in general. Her impressive grasp of the English language along with her extensive vocabulary makes her a skilled wordsmith with a natural eye for catching mistakes, making improvements, and optimizing content for any purpose.
Veronica is not only a brilliant communicator, but also an absolute pleasure to work and collaborate with.”

“I engaged Veronica’s services to help me with editing and organizing my master’s degree thesis. As a speaker of English as a Second Language, I needed the assistance of a skilled, reliable and dependable editor to navigate and organize the vast research information gathered during course of my studies into a clearly written and formatted manuscript. Veronica assisted me with smoothing my language, reorganizing and clarifying information presented, formatting data tables and checking my grammar to ensure that my thesis was worthy of a master’s degree. Veronica’s communication skills are exceptional, she was always available to respond to and answer my questions, as well as gently negotiate changes with me. I found her advice invaluable.”

In addition to her writing/copyediting skills, her philanthropic nature shined when she lead an in-house fundraiser for victims of the water crisis in Flint, MI. Veronica is a pleasure to work with and a considerable strength to any team.”
